Iraq does not end at the last checkpoint. Crossings, pilgrim traffic, energy talks, and the statements that arrive from Tehran, Ankara, Amman, or the Gulf after they have already moved a market in Baghdad. The region desk is short and dated. It does not write the neighbour’s domestic politics as if they were ours.
